This Standard sets the maximum electric power equipment and appliances that demand standby power. It also sets the type of information that energy efficiency label must carry the products covered by this Mexican Official Standard, which are marketed within the territory of the United States of Mexico and likewise, addresses the need for such products conducive to efficiency and energy saving.

This Mexican Official Standard applies to the following appliances and electronic equipment: adapters digital television decoders reception of television signals via cable, satellite and Internet Protocol (IP), equipment for reproducing images as printers, scanners, copiers and multifunctional, microwave ovens, computers for playing independent, separable or inseparable audio to one or more functions sound equipment for video playback or home theater Digital Versatile format (DVD) Disc or Digital Album High Definition (Blu-Ray Disc) and screen televisions Light Emitting Diodes (LED), Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Plasma Panel (PDP) and Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), in single-phase supply voltage 100 V to 277 V AC and 50 Hz or 60 Hz, which are manufactured or imported to be sold in the country.
