Acerca de UL
Below are the Certification Modalities established in Mexico for Household Cooking Appliances using LP/Natural gas subject to compliance with these standards. They are implemented through the specific Conformity Assessment Procedure (CAP) under which a certificate or opinion may be obtained.
Select the modality according to the type of product and your certification needs.
It basically consists in submitting your Request and current Product Test Result Report (no more than 90 days from the date of issue; for NOM-010-SESH-2012 and NOM-015-SESH-2013 no more than a year from the date of issue), along with relevant technical and legal documents.
The certificate is subject to annual verification (follow-up) and is valid for 1 year from the date of issue.
Under this modality, ownership extensions may be given (except for NOM-025-ENER-2013) upon certificate holder’s request. Both the holder and the person to whom the extension is given are responsible for the ownership. Ownership extensions are also subject to verification. Extension validity shall be the same as base certificate validity.
Under this modality, you may obtain a certificate valid for 3 years, as long as you have a Quality Management System (QMS) certified by an accredited system agency.
In order to certify a product under this modality, a Pre-Inspection Visit is required by UL for the purpose of obtaining the corresponding System Certification Report. If applicable, product sampling that should be taken to the laboratory to obtain the Test Result Report, is also required. This service is performed only if the quote proposed is approved by the customer. This quote includes a Pre-Inspection Visit, a product certification, a routine verification (inspection) visit, and a result analysis.
In the event of a loss or validity suspension of the QMS Certificate, the Certificate of Conformity holder shall immediately notify the Certification Body and/or Dirección General de Gas L.P. (‘DGGLP,’ Directorate-General for LP Gas in English), as applicable. In the event of a loss of the QMS Certificate, the Certificate of Conformity shall be cancelled from the date of completion of the audit carried out by the QMS Certification Body. Certification bodies shall immediately notify the DGGLP for all intents and purposes. In the event of a suspension of the QMS Certificate validity, the Certificate of Conformity shall be suspended for a period no longer than 60 calendar days from the date of completion of the audit carried out by the QMS Certification Body. If QMS Certificate validity is restored within the period above, Certificate of Conformity validity shall be restored to the date for which it was originally given. Otherwise, the Certificate will be automatically cancelled and the Certification Body shall immediately notify the DGGLP for all intents and purposes. In both cases, the holder of the Certificate of Conformity cancelled may request the Modality I. Certification with verification and follow-up through regular tests.
